I thought I would stop schooling, but my mum so much believed in education so I had to hock plantains which my mum planted at the front of our house so that I could help my education.
I removed everything about John from my being. And at that time I had more responsibilities so I never gave time to john again although he was always asking me how things were going, which I never replied. He kept buying gift and all that and all that.
At a point he became still and never talked to me again. It was August 16th my birthday and I wasn't expecting any gift but john came with a
mobile phone as a gift, and I was surprise how he knew it was my birthday.
He told me that he was sorry and his no longer interested in dating but we can just be friends again. I told him it was okay but I did not accept his gift.
Ss3 started like a dream, almost leaving secondary school, it was the peak of my life because looking at painful moments when my dad died and hocking things, I knew after then I would no longer hock.

On Monday of the 6th week, the principal came to my class with some form in his hands, he said it was for migzy competition. I asked , sir what is migzy competition all about. He said it was a competition where you will be asked question but you will prove your answer in response to science. I thought it would be a nice one. The form was #200(Nigeria currency) I bought it with the last cash I had with me.
That money was meant for my launch since I did not eat in the morning but I had to sacrifice it.

Two weeks latter I, John, Christiana and obinna went for the competition.
The event was well organized and I was happy staying in the environment. 30 minute latter the event started . one cute man introduced the event .
Over 30 top schools in Lagos came for migzy competition. But as we went on 5 schools were disqualified because of how they dressed. My heart kept beating fast....Before I could know it, it was the turn of my school. Each student had 5 questions if you fail 3 then you are out in the competition. I answered 4, John answered 3, Christian and obinna answered only 2.
For my school it was only john and I that was remaining, as the competition continued john also failed out, I became the only one representing my school.
Another question came up, who invented telephone and bell? All the student from different schools could not respond but I knew the answer. Since nobody wanted to answer it I said Alexander Graham.

That was how I won the competition. Everyone from my school celebrated me and as the winner the school would paid my fees throughout ss3. But they did not pay for waec registration.
Excellence was just in me. On Friday during our social gathering the school celebrated me , it was just like a party. They bought drinks, snacks and even cake.
The drink was much so I took some home and my neighbors (neighborhood) also celebrated me.
I was happy because I knew there will be no hocking again, my shame was covered. Life kept flowing like a river although it was taking me high.
John lost me and I knew he was really regretting because am now a celebrity in town so guys were blushing for me......and
